Below are the criteria for who qualifies

  • Canadian Residency: To be part of this plan, you need to be a Canadian resident.

  • Income Guidelines: If your family’s adjusted net income is under $90,000 annually, this program is designed to support you.

  • Dental Insurance Availability: The CDCP is a helping hand for those without dental insurance. This includes not having insurance through employment, pensions, or any personal plans.

  • Tax Filing Status: Having filed your tax return in the previous year is necessary to qualify, as it reflects your active participation in our nation’s tax system.

Program Roll-Out: Timelines and Target Groups

  • Focused on Our Seniors: The CDCP’s phased approach starts with seniors 87 and older beginning mid-December 2023, gradually including younger seniors in stages down to those aged 65 by May 2024. This structured rollout demonstrates a prioritized care approach for our elders.

  • Support for Families and Individuals with Disabilities: Following the seniors, from June 2024, the program will welcome applications from families with children under 18 and individuals holding a Disability Tax Credit Certificate, ensuring comprehensive support for those in need.

  • Expanding Reach: The aim is to extend this support to all eligible individuals by 2025, showcasing a commitment to inclusive dental care.

Dental Benefits Under the CDCP

Coverage Details for Denture Services

  • Complete and Partial Removable Dentures: The CDCP offers coverage for both complete and partial removable dentures. This initiative aims to support individuals missing some or all their teeth, ensuring they can regain their smiles and functional bite without worrying about the financial strain.

How Much Does the CDCP Cover?

The CDCP provides a tiered coverage system based on your family’s net income, making denture-related services more affordable:

  • For Families Earning Below $70,000: The plan covers 100% of the costs associated with denture-related services.
  • Income Between $70,000 to $79,999: There’s coverage for 60% of the costs.
  • Income Between $80,000 to $89,999: You’re eligible for 40% coverage of these expenses.

This approach ensures that dental care, especially for dentures, is accessible to those who need it most, based on their financial situation.

Beyond Dentures: Comprehensive Dental Services

The CDCP doesn’t stop at dentures. It extends to cover a wide array of dental services aiming to maintain overall oral health:

  • Preventive Services: Including regular exams and cleanings to prevent dental issues.
  • Diagnostic Services: Such as X-rays and evaluations to accurately diagnose oral health conditions.
  • Restorative Services: Covering treatments like fillings and crowns to restore the health of your teeth.
  • Endodontic Services: Root canal treatments to address issues within the tooth.
  • Periodontal Services: Focused on treating gum disease and maintaining gum health.
  • Oral Surgery Services: When surgical interventions are necessary for your oral health.
  •
