What is a denture reline?

A fresh fit,
same dentures

A denture reline reshapes the inside of your denture — the part that sits against your gums — so it better conforms to your current oral anatomy. By adding new acrylic to the inner surface, we improve fit, stability, and comfort while keeping your original teeth and appearance.

Even well-made dentures need periodic adjustment as your mouth continues to change over time. A reline is a simple, effective way to restore proper fit without the cost of a full replacement.

Our denturists Danielle Ramos and Moe Sarwari assess your fit and gum health, then recommend the right reline for you.

Why might you need a reline?

Signs it's time for a reline

01

Loose or slipping dentures

Your denture no longer stays put and shifts while you eat or talk.

02

Sore spots or irritation

Rubbing, tenderness or irritation on your gums where the denture sits.

03

Difficulty chewing or speaking

Everyday eating and talking have become harder or less comfortable.

04

Food trapping underneath

Food regularly works its way under your denture and causes discomfort.

05

Changes in facial support

Changes in your bite or facial appearance as your gums and bone shift.

06

It's simply been a while

Most patients benefit from a reline roughly every two years as tissues change.

Two options

Soft & hard relines

We'll recommend the right material based on the health of your gums and where you are in your healing.

Soft reline

Cushioned comfort for sensitive gums

A soft, flexible material cushions tender or sensitive gums. It's ideal for patients experiencing tenderness or still healing after extractions.

Hard reline

A durable, long-term fit

A more durable material reshapes the denture for a stable, precise, long-term fit — the right choice once your gums have fully healed.

Common questions

Denture reline FAQ

Answers to the questions patients ask us most. Have another? Give us a call.

How often should dentures be relined?
Most patients need a reline about every two years, depending on how their oral tissues change. Regular check-ups let us monitor fit and recommend a reline before discomfort develops.
What's the difference between a soft and hard reline?
A soft reline uses a flexible, cushioning material ideal for sensitive or healing gums — for example after extractions. A hard reline uses a more durable material for a precise, long-term fit once your gums have fully healed.
Will I be without my denture for long?
In many cases we offer same-day relines or quick turnaround. Typically we take an impression and keep the denture for the day to reline it, then it's ready for delivery.
Do I need a whole new denture instead?
Not usually. If your denture's teeth and appearance are still in good shape, a reline restores the fit without the cost of a full replacement. We'll always tell you honestly if a remake is the better option.
Why choose SureFit for your reline?
